Why I love Zumba!
If you come to class or to my personal training sessions, you will probably already know how much I LOVE teaching Zumba! I enjoy nearly all forms of exercise and I always get a buzz from teaching and training people. But I absolutely adore Zumba and today I wanted share with you just why I love Zumba so much! Exercise and fitness is my life and if I don’t keep active, I really miss it! But the type of exercise I would miss most if I couldn’t do it, is Zumba! Zumba is a unique combination of infections, Latin music with high energy cardio workouts. It combines a wide range of dance styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Samba, Mambo, Flamenco, Cha Cha Cha and Hip Hop and because it’s a dance based exercise, it uses every part of your body, arms and legs – great for toning and strengthening those muscles. The routines are quite fast paced which makes it a fantastic workout for your heart and brilliant for burning fat. In fact, it is thought that the average person will burn around 400 to 600 calories in a single Zumba class.
A Zumba class comprises a series of workout routines, which repeats each week so you really get to know your moves and develop your favourites! After a few weeks you will come to know each of the routines inside out, so you can stop thinking about what your feet are doing and can really throw yourself into the dance. Because you got so absorbed in the dance and the fun you don’t even realise that you are doing squats or lunges.
The uplifting Latin music is central to Zumba. It’s fabulous and infectious and makes you want to dance. In fact it’s just like going for a great party on a Friday night! Because the music is so great, it actually motivates you to put even more into your workout and to keep going – you might not even want the class to end. And that’s not the only great thing about those lively Latin beats - the happy music is a brilliant mood booster too and a great way to relieve your weekly stresses, leaving you with a natural high.
Of course as everyone knows, the key to successful fitness and health is to find a form of exercise that you LOVE to do, so you will do it regularly, and that is main reason Zumba is so brilliant. For most people who try it, they love it so much they keep wanting to come back for more! So if you hate putting in hours at the gym or keep finding excuses not to go for that run, try Zumba, you might come to love as much as I do!
