Should I Eat Before Exercise?
We get asked this question a lot! A light meal about three hours before exercise is best as this helps you to keep going for longer and perform better.
It is true that exercising on an empty stomach does burn more calories from fat than carbohydrates but you get tired sooner and so the intensity lessens, this is ok for a short burst of exercise less than half an hour, but any longer and you will actually be burning fewer calories as you get tired.
So ultimately the longer and harder you exercise the more calories you burn and the more calories you burn the more fat you lose. If you haven't had a meal then a light snack of something like fruit, yoghurt or toast 15-30mins before exercising will help keep up your stamina.
